Thank you for caring.

We appreciate your concern and willingness to help the children who have been separated at the border in our START WITH HOPE program. We have been overwhelmed with great generosity through calls and emails! however, we cannot accept donations of clothing, toys or games at this time.

Here's how you can help:

Donate. Please know that the children’s basic needs are being met through the federal grant we receive for this program. However, there are program and administrative costs that are not covered because no public grant fully covers all the costs of operating a program and no program just runs on its own.   Your general support of this program or MercyFirst helps a great deal in this regard and is much appreciated.  We also know that many people prefer to donate to directly help the children in our care. Given this, you can also donate to assist our kids to go on trips, see a movie, visit a museum or have a pizza party. For this we would also be quite grateful! Donations can be made here. Please write in the Comments section how you would like your gift used.

Please note: The immigrant children separated at the border are a small percentage of the unaccompanied minors in our care. Donations will be used for all of these children.

Volunteer. Unfortunately we do not use volunteers in our START With Hope program for immigrant youth, given the short term nature of the program. But we are always in need of volunteers and mentors to work with our general foster care programs. Please complete our form if you'd like to find out more. To volunteer with foster children, you must be fingerprinted and undergo a background check.

Here's a message from our CEO, which provides more details about our START With Hope Program.
