The program assists teen mothers in foster care, as well as pregnant teens who are close to giving birth, to cope with their own emotional issues, while learning to parent effectively. Each program is a small setting that works with three teens and their child in a very personal way.
Staff provide supervision for the children during the day to allow the teen moms to attend school, work and develop the life skills they will need to live independently and raise their child safely.
Evidence-Informed Parent Training models include Parenting Journey and Common Sense Parenting for Toddlers. These interventions are provided on-site and in joint sessions with other Mother/Baby programs to interrupt the cycle of child abuse and neglect that first brought many of our young mothers into foster care. Our homes are located in Brooklyn, Queens and Suffolk County.
