Since 1894, MercyFirst has been providing care for children and families in need.
MercyFirst is a not-for-profit human service agency serving more than 3,200 children, teenagers and families each year in Brooklyn, Queens, Nassau and Suffolk counties. Founded as an orphanage in the late 1800s by the Sisters of Mercy (Angel Guardian Home in Brooklyn and St. Mary’s of the Angels Home in Syosset) today MercyFirst offers a continuum of care through its network of programs in New York City and on Long Island.
MercyFirst, a sponsored ministry of the Sisters of Mercy, inspires hope and promotes healing for children and families by providing quality human services and educational opportunities while advocating for social change.
As a community of care, MercyFirst honors the spirit of our Founders and Sponsors, the Sisters of Mercy, by carrying out our Mission and being faithful to six Core Values in the work we do every day.
Hospitality, Compassion, Respect, Integrity, Justice, Excellence
